Ok, it's not "really" here, but it's almost here. Let me be one of the first to welcome you to your new grade and room. Mr. Mullins has a lot planned for you and I will be supporting him throughout the year; it will be quite the experience. We are already gearing up for our study trips, book studies, in-class assignments, and lots of explorations. Are you familiar with the Space Shuttle? We will be starting the year by looking at patches that were designed for various STS missions; take note of the colors, objects, and layout of each patch. For example, take a look at this: ( credit: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts121_overview.html) What do you notice about the colors and the layout? Why might the designer have used blue on the bottom, a gradient of colors, and then black towards the top? What about those white dots - how many are there and why are they only on the black? Give some serious thought to this and respond below. Remember, only use your "pen name" and never your real name. Also, keep your audience in mind. You are PUBLISHING your writing and thus you need to keep it formal. Have a great year exploring! Miss Given |
